IP Competency Model

Infection Preventionist (IP) Competency Model

To meet the demands of the rapidly expanding field of infection prevention, and equip professionals for the challenges of the future, APIC created the model for infection preventionist (IP) competency.

Coming June 2026: APIC’s updated Infection Preventionist (IP) Competency Model.

Developed through extensive collaboration between the APIC Professional Development Committee and APIC members, this new model provides a forward-looking framework to support IP career development.
