APIC wants to ensure that members have helpful resources from the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) training course summarizing surveillance changes beginning January 1, 2013.
In particular, please note that the NHSN Resource Manual was updated November 30, 2012.
The resource manual includes:
- Summary of surveillance changes for January 2013: Surgical site infection and device-associated infection (central-line associated bloodstream infection, catheter-associated urinary tract infection, and ventilator-associated events), as well as other changes.
- Table outlining examples of new key terms for 2013: HAI, device-associated HAI, and transfer rule.
Be sure to refer the December 2012 issue of NHSN e-News for additional details on the changes.
Questions can be directed to nhsn@cdc.gov.
