“Our
Infection Control Department Staff believe that the Protect Our Patients
program focuses on such a key component of infection control, we made it
our goal to introduce the program to our staff in an extraordinary
way. We realize that memos, checklists, and continuing education
reviews often have little impact on information retention; therefore, we
studied the program goals and its WE CARE guidelines to create a unique
and unforgettable approach to marketing the program to the staff members
of the hospital.”

"Thank you
Clorox Company for helping to enhance Infection Prevention Week.
Visitors, patients, and employees were very receptive, especially now
when there is an increase in awareness through the media. What
made it great is: 1) free, 2) arrived in a timely manner, and 3)
requires no creative thinking on my part."

"I received
my order of posters, pamphlets, and table top folders from APIC about a
month ago. I was very impressed with the quality of the
materials! After approaching administration with the "Protect Our
Patients" campaign, they were excited to place them around the hospital
and education our visitors and patients. The "get started booklet"
helped with the article for the local newspaper and administration took
a picture of me standing by one of the posters as our introduction for
"Protect Our Patients" to the community. Since then administration
has asked me to write a short article every week for the newspaper on
preventing infection. I have concentrated on hand hygiene in the
community setting and ways to avoid the flu. We are a small
community and many people have made positive comments to me about the
articles, wherever I go! So many have commented about how nice it
was for the Clorox company to underwrite the expense for the educational
materials."

"It was great to have "free" high quality educational materials to use
at our facility. We have placed the educational brochures in our
Respiratory Etiquette baskets throughout our facility. We used the
posters, tabletop, and other brochures in our cafeteria and public
display bulletin board to educate our visitors. This was very
helpful to have during Infection Prevention Week."

"We used the
'Protect Our Patients' poster as part of our Respiratory Etiquette
Station. The ED director and I got the posters framed . . .
. We have established Respiratory Etiquette stations in
strategic locations hospital wide. Those locations are waiting
areas within our hospital. We also have this at the entrance to
our main lobby. We had the posters mounted on the wall above a
bottle of alcohol hand rinse, a box of masks, and a small box of
tissues. We implemented this in August and have had positive
feedback from our staff and visitors. I have observed visitors
using these supplies during my surveillance rounds as well. I
believe that these posters have helped to increase awareness.
Since the location is by the elevator, I have observed people reading
what is on the wall while waiting for the elevator."
