The U.S. House of Representatives Health Subcommittee held a hearing April 9 to discuss whether the non-therapeutic use of antibiotics in animals is increasing the number of antibiotic resistant bacteria in humans. Opponents of non-therapeutic use have called on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to collect more data on how antibiotics are used in the food supply.
