President Obama's FY 2014 budget calls for investments in infectious disease detection and tracking

President Barack Obama released his budget for fiscal year 2014 programs April 9, which includes a request for $40 million for an Advanced Molecular Detection and Response to Infectious Disease Outbreaks initiative to modernize the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s technology and methods to better detect and track infectious diseases. The FY 2014 budget also includes an increase of $12 million for the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). See budget in brief.
