Sharon has been employed by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas (THD), an 800+ bed acute care facility in North Dallas, for the past 22 years; fourteen of those in infection prevention. She has held several positions, including staff microbiologist, laboratory quality and safety coordinator, and infection prevention surveillance coordinator. Currently, Sharon is the infection prevention manager at THD. She is certified as both a Medical Technologist and Specialist in Microbiology by the American College of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). She is also certified in infection control and epidemiology by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). Sharon is a member of the Dallas/Fort Worth APIC chapter. As one of the first Texas hospitals enrolled in NHSN, she presented her facility’s experience with NHSN at the Texas HAI Planning Meeting in Austin in 2009. She also served as an APIC faculty member for the Texas NHSN training courses.

Sharon has extensive knowledge in the areas of Microbiology, NHSN surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention software.
